Ga-Eul Debate Get-Together 2024 Successfully Concludes at Dulwich College Seoul
Fostering Youth Debaters Through In-Person Debate Competitions in the Post-Pandemic Era.
Founded in 2023 by Nayoun Kang and Ethan Kim, and currently led by Kim, Debate Get-Together has a clear mission: to provide novice debaters with in-person platforms where they can nurture their skills in a supportive environment. “We aim to build confidence and leadership through debate,” says Kim.
This year’s tournament adopted the Modified Canadian Nationals format, drawing 24 teams from across the nation to compete in critical thinking and public speaking. “Creating a welcoming, professional space for beginners remains our top priority,” Kim adds. The tournament was praised for its inclusivity and the chance it gave new debaters to compete in person.
As one of the few offline tournaments left in South Korea, Ga-Eul Debate continues to be a beacon for young students seeking real-world debating experiences. The next event is scheduled for early 2025, following the success of the October 2024 tournament held at Dulwich College Seoul.
