World Series of Poker Drives a Flurry of Fantasy Poker Facebook Apps
Facebook users can select a team of players who will be playing at the event. Typically they are awarded points depending on where their selected players finish.
Many who are unfamiliar with the Poker community may be surprised at the fact that people would play Fantasy poker. However, this activity proves popular with Poker fans who view the game as a sport no different to football or athletics.
One such app has been launched by popular UK facing poker site Boylepoker.com. It's the fourth year that the site has launched a fantasy poker league.
Ciaran Corbett, Poker Manager at Boylepoker.com said “Fantasy Poker Apps are great. They are a bit of banter and you get a prize if you win. They add an extra bit of excitement to tournaments and give people the opportunity to test their knowledge of the professional game. We at Boylepoker.com have launched our fourth app for the World Series this year. Take up has been great and we have received good feedback from fans of our Boylepoker Facebook page.”
Like the other sports, Poker has developed into a spectator sport. Although the Poker boom of the early noughties is well and truly over, fans of the sport are more hardcore than ever.
Whoever wins the World Series main event, you can be sure that somebody on Facebook will be rejoicing after winning a Fantasy League.
