GM Korea Reports August Sales of 45,167 Vehicles
The company’s domestic sales in August were down 14.0 percent from 11,408 vehicles sold in August 2011, while the automaker’s vehicle exports in August decreased 17.8 percent from 43,036 vehicles exported in the same month last year.
August vehicle sales were negatively impacted by weak domestic market demand, the company’s traditional summer shutdown and an inventory shortage due to work stoppages related to ongoing labor negotiations.
In August, GM Korea also exported 95,254 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.
For the first eight months of 2012, GM Korea recorded total sales of 515,037 vehicles. Domestic sales declined 0.2 percent to 93,315 vehicles from 93,483 vehicles in the year-ago period and exports dropped 4.4 percent year on year to 421,722 vehicles.
In addition, GM Korea exported 883,294 CKD products in the first eight months of 2012.
