GM Korea Reports July Sales of 60,720 Vehicles

SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--GM Korea Company announced today that it sold 12,001 vehicles in Korea and exported 48,719 vehicles in July, for total monthly sales of 60,720 vehicles.

The company’s domestic sales in July decreased 7.7 percent from 13,003 vehicles sold in July 2011.

Exports in July totaled 48,719 vehicles. This represented a decline of 9.0 percent from the same month last year, when the company registered complete vehicle exports of 53,550 vehicles.

In July, GM Korea also exported 112,100 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.

Ankush Arora, GM Korea Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing, said “We expect sales to grow as a result of our aggressive marketing activities during the summer and our recently introduced new and upgraded models such as the 2013 Chevrolet Orlando and 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, which offer innovative convenience features.”

For the first seven months of 2012, GM Korea recorded total sales of 469,870 vehicles. Domestic sales climbed 1.7 percent to 83,507 vehicles from 82,075 vehicles in the year-ago period and exports dropped 2.9 percent year on year to 386,363 vehicles. In addition, GM Korea exported 788,040 CKD products in the first seven months of 2012.
