The 4th Citi-KOSBI Women’s Entrepreneurship Academy (WEA) Course ends
The WEA course was first open in April 2009 as part of the Women-led Enterprise Competitiveness Enhancement Program that has been in place since 2008 with the sponsorship of the Citi Foundation, with an objective to identify role models for the Korean women SME entrepreneurs and help them sharpen their competitiveness.
Including the 4th course attendants, a total of 170 have completed the program. The students enrolled in the 4th course took the class every Wednesday from April 13, 2011 that lasted for 13 weeks. 50 course participants this time were mostly women CEOs and middle managers from SMEs, and Citibank Korea sponsored their tuitions worth of 3 million won each.
“Through Citi-KOSBI Women’s Entrepreneurship Academy, I was able to obtain practical skills necessary to run a company like filling for cooperate income tax. Also, I highly recommend the course to other female entrepreneurs to share their business concerns and form a network.” commented CEO Hae-Suk Jung of ZEVIX Logistics at the ceremony.
“I believe WEA is a good opportunity for women SME businesswomen to gain practical knowledge as high-level officials from SME-related government organizations including Small & Medium Business Corporation and KOTRA as well as financial experts from Citibank Korea serve as lecturers. I also hope that this Academy will also help women SEM owners and managers network with each other to cooperate on further business opportunities,” said KOSBI President Ji-Jong Chang. CEO Yung-Ku Ha of Citibank Korea mentioned in his congratulatory remarks, “I expect this program would be meaningful for Women CEO participants in strengthening their capabilities and businesswomen networks.”
