SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--Displaybank, a global authority in market research and consulting for the display industry, today announced that 2011 touch panel market size is to reach $10.42 billion showing 76% growth Y/Y and that 1 out of 3 mobile phones will use touch panel. Touch panel market is growing very sharply in recent 2-3 years focused on the small/medium-size under 10” applications such as mobile phone and Tablet PCs and that 1 out 3 mobile phones in 2011 and 1 out 2 mobile phones in 2014 will equip touch panel. Mobiles phones with over 3” display size especially will show 91% touch panel penetration in 2011 that most will equip touch panel. Irene Heo, senior analyst at Displaybank noted that “touch panel market in 2010 reached $5.93 billion in size to show high growth rate Y/Y at 152% and it is expected to continue the growing trend of showing 76% Y/Y growth rate in 2011 as well. In 2014, touch panel market size will record 2.6 times greater than the market in 2010 to record $15.64 billion showing 46% average compound annual growth rate.”

The growth of touch panel market directly comes from the success of mobile phone focused on Smart phones and Tablet PCs and that the share of touch panel penetration in 2011 for small/medium-size will comprise 89% of the total touch panel market. Recently as the demand for large-size touch panel market continuously grows, large-size touch panel share is expected to grow from 11% in 2011 to 22.5% in 2014.
