KOHI successfully concluded WHO Fellowship Program Infectious Disease Information Management for China
It was anticipated that the course focusing on infectious disease surveillance systems would provide an opportunity to compare the Korea‘s systems and China’s ones and advance China‘s infectious disease surveillance and control systems. KOHI included quality lectures about the Korea’s surveillance systems in the course for a successful training and a site visit to Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Visiting Korea CDC, the trainees expressed deep interests in its administrative working system that begun to be integrated in 2009.
The trainees visited the Gurogu public health center in Gurogu, Seoul, and learned about the GIS-based mosquito capturing system devised and operated by Gurogu. They later paid a visit to Severance hospital to learn infectious disease reporting systems, such as TBNET, introduced in hospitals and clinics.
“I was very impressed by Korea CDC‘s integrated administrative working system”, said Zhou Maigeng, associate professor and deputy director. “The Chinese network system needs integrating” he added. He also showed his willingness to conclude MOU with Korea CDC for further cooperation in integrating China’s network systems.
Yu Shicheng, chief of division of health statistics, said “the course was very satisfying and useful.” Yu expressed his expectations about advancement of the China‘s system. “I will reflect my new ideas earned from the course into the development works of China’s infectious disease surveillance and control systems,” Yu said.
KOHI will run various programs, including community healthcare development program and mother and child health development program, to contribute to improvement of the world's health.
