Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Cosmetic pigments and functional fillers of Merck KGaA sold under the brand names Biron®, Colorona® and Timiron® have been certified in compliance with the ECOCERT standard.

ECOCERT is currently the most important internationally recognized certificate for natural cosmetics. To receive this certificate, cosmetic ingredients must meet the very strict requirements relating e.g. to the source of the material, the manufacturing process, the purity and traceability of the material. The ECOCERT certificate evaluates environmental protection throughout the entire production process as well as consumer protection and the use of high-quality ecological substances.

The certificate is issued by the international independent organic certification organization ECOCERT. Founded in France, it conducts inspections today in more than 80 countries and is thus one of the largest certification organizations worldwide for natural and ecological products (e.g. food, textiles, cosmetics). Since 2002, cosmetic products are also tested for ecological and biological criteria and are thus subject to more stringent biological regulations than conventional cosmetics. To date, ECOCERT has certified more than 600 products from over 50 manufacturers.

With this certification, Merck can give targeted support to cosmetic manufacturers to meet the trend for ecologically and biologically sound products. In addition, the certificate gives cosmetic manufacturers broader opportunities to market innovative and highly effective cosmetics and toiletries in this area.
