President Roh Moo-hyun’s new year’s message to the nation

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--My fellow Koreans,

The New Year of 2008 has just dawned. I hope that all the wishes of every one of you will come true this year. I also offer my warm New Year’s greetings to seven million Koreans overseas as well as our North Korean compatriots.

Fellow citizens,

We have many desires for the New Year that should be fulfilled. I hope all of you maintain good health and that your daily lives will be better this year. I also hope that people will show a warm heart toward their neighbors and that even those who are in need now will not give up their dreams for a brighter future.

I have a strong confidence in the potential of the Korean people. There have been many difficulties all along, but our people have overcome those hardships at every turn. As one of the latest examples, countless citizens are presently joining in the effort to clean up the oil spill in Taean, thereby making yet another miracle.

I believe that our citizens deserve to win praise from the global community.

I hope that the New Year will be an opportunity for the nation to make a great leap forward. To this end, I will do my best to make sure that the new administration sets sail under favorable circumstances.

I wish every one of you abundant blessings in the New Year.
