President congratulates Korean delegation on successful Expo bid

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--President Roh Moo-hyun sent a congratulatory telegram this morning to the Korean delegation for its successful bid to host the 2012 World Expo. Yeosu was selected as the host city for the 2012 International Exposition at the 142nd session of the BIE Assembly General held early this morning (KST) in Paris. The following is the full text of the President’s message.

Along with all Koreans, I am pleased at the good news that Yeosu was selected as the host city for the 2012 World Expo. I offer my special congratulations to the citizens of Jeollanam-do and Yeosu city.

The successful bid for the international exposition is the fruit of the united support and endeavors of all Koreans. The Expo will lay the groundwork for the southwestern coastal area to take yet another step forward while elevating the status of Korea.

I extend my sincere appreciation to the citizens of Yeosu and the bidding committee for their efforts coupled with great zeal and good faith. I hope the preparations will be well carried out so that the Expo would become an exemplary festival.
