Trade figures for Nov. 2006

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--According to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE), Korea's exports rose 19.8% year-on-year to USD $30.94 billion in November 2006 while imports posted $26.87 billion, an increase of 12.7% from a year earlier. In all, the nation marked a trade surplus of $4.07 billion in November.

This is the first time Korea's monthly exports topped the $30-billion mark. It is also the highest monthly surplus on record. (The previous monthly high surplus was in April of 1998 at $3.85 billion.)

Overseas sales in November were boosted by on-year increase in demand for ships (89.3%), semiconductors (49.6%), LCD panels (27.7%), and steel products (37.7%).

By region, exports to China grew by 19.9% and the EU by 15.1%.
