Plant orders soared in the first half
Plant orders for offshore facilities were up by 56% to $4.9 billion from a year ago, and industrial facilities by 273% to $1.5 billion. In addition, as oil-producing countries in the Middle East pursue a policy to export petrochemical products rather than crude oil, orders for petrochemicals facilities increased by 22% to $2 billion in the period.
During the first six months of this year, plant orders from the Middle East and Africa were down by 22% to $3.1 billion and by 47% to $1.4 billion, respectively. However, orders from Europe sharply increased by 627% to $3.7 billion year-on-year, North America by 516% to $1.7 billion, and Asia by 46% to $0.9 billion.
