Rolling out the red carpet for investors

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Minister Chung Sye Kyun of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) held an investor relations (IR) to promote Korea's attractive business environment in New York on June 28.

At the IR promotional meeting, Minister Chung was joined by Lee Yong-deuk, the head of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU), one of Korea's largest labor unions, and Tami Overby, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM). Minister Chung stressed that the Korean government would help foreign businesses thrive in Korea. He also assured the participants that the government does not discriminate against foreign capital.

FKTU President Lee said labor unions recognized the positive effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) such as job creation and economic stimulus, and declared his undivided support for attracting FDI. Lee emphasized that the labor union's support in attracting FDI underscored the shift in the labor sector's approach to management, from confrontation to dialogue and cooperation.

AMCHAM President Overby offered many success stories of foreign companies in Korea, and shed light on how improved regulations now meet international standards. She also pointed to Korea's talented human resources as a major advantage of investing in the country.
