Energy-efficient lights for welfare facilities

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--As part of an on-going energy conservation campaign, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) is installing energy-efficient light bulbs and fixtures at welfare facilities free of charge. On June 19, MOCIE Minister Chung Sye Kyun visited a senior citizens’ home, where the light fixtures were replaced with the energy-saving ones.

The project began in 2004 and will continue until 2008 to illuminate a total of 2,055 welfare facilities including nursing homes and child care centers. Once completed, the campaign is expected to save 3.3 million kWh of energy, which is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 100,000 households or 3.87 billion won
